An interesting article of Travancore on the Village post office of Palliady, which came out in print in the India Study Circle (London, UK) magazine, 'India Post' 2009.

 

Travancore 1888 first issue laid paper stamps.

 Travancore 1888 first issue laid paper stamps with different town number cancels. The laid issues were in the field for a short duration, hardly less than a year.

Shown below are the തി (T) obliterators with numbers given for each Travancore towns, starting from Trivandrum (തി -1).

Scarce to collect in laid paper..not much exist.

Laid paper stamps are identified with horizontal lines.

As per my findings, there were around 107 Village offices (not recorded elsewhere) in the state of Travancore, and a good percentage of Village office cancellations are mute.

Travancore ...3 Chuckram envelope...stamp printed on inverted thin laid pellure cream type paper, with embossing "NUZARALLY & CUMROODINS" STATIONERS BOMBAY.

139×80mm..almost silimar to K4.

Unrecorded in Deschyl & P G Wells, but recorded in H& G (Envelopes 3b).

Rare.
