Travancore...Medical slogan propaganda

Medical slogan markings of 1109/10 ME (1934-'36).

In 1934, Travancore state was under the epidemic of Cholera & Small Pox.

The health department did their best to contain the diseases from spreading further, by propogandizing the medical slogan markings thru' postal cards & envelopes.

There were almost 6000 deaths in a span of 2 years. The sanitation department were in full force, to check the disease, with support from the medical in officer & para medical staff.

The medical officer of each taluk sent their weekly report of the attack to the Sanitary Commisioner in Trivandrum.

These medical slogans (applied on cards/envelopes, in violet ink, with rubber stamp) were introduced to inform the public about the outbreak, and to educate them about the steps taken to contain the disease.
