Four Cash potrait card.. Single line. Perforated..RARE.


Not more than 10 cards known to exist...one of those few Travancore postal stationary which falls under the 'Super RARE'.


1902  portrait of Maharajah Sri Mulam Thirunal Rama Varma..single line heading, with the colourless background, inside the portrait.


Below shown is 1904 used (Perf: 10 ) from Mannanam to Changnacherry.


2 types of this card... 

a) with perforation (rare)  and 

b) without perforation (common).


Perforated cards of this single line heading are much sought after.. reasons unknown..(probably printed in limited quantity and lasted for a few days).

This is the last double card usage in Travancore  Anchal postal history...

The unperforated cards were in use for a limited period, hardly less than a year. 



Perforated cards of Travancore lasted only 10 years..1892 to 1902 starting from Cash Eight to Cash Four.

Travancore 1932 'REGISTERED' envelope from Trivandrum to Cochin..provincial issue. .

 

This 1932 used registered envelope (issued in 1930) was surcharged on 3 & Half Chuckrams (issued in 1925) with 3 Chs 10 Ca (in red) from Trivandrum to Ernakulam.
Travancore Registered envelope in printed format are not that successful, among the public.

Registered charge: 3 Ch.

Postage rate: 3/4 Ch (12 cash) 

Total: 3 Chs12 Cash.



This provisional issue (used) are in the 'Very Rare' category. 
Handfull are known to exist.

Anchal Saving Bank pass book

 Travancore Anchal Savings Bank pass book printed by The Superintendent at Government Press, was fully operational except for the year 1117-'18 (1943), when it was shifted to the Central Prison Press.

'ANCHAL SAVINGS BANK' postal cancellation of Nagercoil. These postal markings are done, when the depositors deposit or withdraw their money from the S. B. account. 


Travancore Anchal Savings Bank Pass Book

 Travancore Anchal Savings Bank pass book.. Postal Savings Bank accounts were introduced in the year 1912/13.






 A pass book is given free of charge at the time, when the depositor opens an account for deposit (2.5% per annum), and incase if it is lost or spoiled, will have to pay half a Rupee, for a fresh book. After each deposit/withdrawal is entered in the pass book, the entry is signed and handstamped by the Anchal Master.




    

1930..an acknowledgment letter sheet from Anchal Superintendent's office at Trivandrum to a depositor at Padmanabhapuram.


An acknowledgment sheet, in which the deposit balance is shown, will be sent periodically to the depositor from the Anchal Superintendent's office at Trivandrum, to counter check with the depositor's passbook balance. The depositor should acknowledge that the remittance balance shown in the pass book is same with the Suptd's office, and if there is any correction, omission or discrepancy, must communicate directly with the Superintendent office.




2 Different press (Government Press & C.P. P*) were used for printing Savings Bank passbooks in the year 1943.

Unrecorded, so far.  


Normally these pass books were printed by the Superintendent, at the Government Press, Trivandrum. 

Printing shifted out to Central Prison Press (Chief Foreman) for the year 1943/'44...ME 1117 from 6/12/1117 to 25/09/1118...for a period of 9 months, and then shifted back to Government Press.

Anchal Savings Bank pass book printed @ C.P.P. are very scarce.


First printed quantity @ Central Prison (C.P.) Press in the year 1943 was 12000 & then 6000 pass books.

Travancore Revenue Hundi

REVENUE HUNDI..The third type of Hundi.. was in vogue from 1909,16 August 1st Chingam 1085) onwards.. 
These revenue hundis were used by the land holder to pay off the land tax to the Revenue officer. 

Landtax money order or Hundi.. from Paravoor to the Official Receiver @ Paravoor. 

Rs 9/ Chuckram 4/ Cash 4 for the M.E. year 1121 (1946).

This landtax was 'refused' (in red manuscript..by Anchal man) ...'addressee refused to accept'.

 Travancore Anchal Hundi duplicate receipt returned by the Anchal office to the Remitter (payer), along with signature and communication of the payee (receiver of the payment)..this privilege of communication facility which was disallowed in the British India Post.
In M. E. 1077 (1901-'02), Hundi (Money order) system was introduced in Travancore.




M. E.  1078 (1903) acknowledgement (duplicate)...Government (On Sirkar Service) service  Hundi receipt. 




 1902(M.E. 1088) Hundi receipts..in English, used by the common public.

New hundi forms came into use.

 Year 1916,1921,1937&1935. (M. E. 1092,1107,1113&1111) 



From year 1935, bilingual forms were used.

Year M. E. 1117 (1942) shown below first,  includes  acknowledgement with counterfoil receipt,which is scarce. 

Travancore Hundi acknowledgement receipt along with coupon shown  above send to the Supervisor of Govt Press..Refused (in manuscript) and returned to the sender in Thalayolaparambu(rectangular boxed)..Scarce.    




Travancore Hundi acknowledgement COUPON...this torn off portion will not bear any postmarks, but the amount to be received by the payee will be noted.
