POSTAGE DUE (KULI) MARKINGS
Travancore.....POSTAGE DUE or "KULI"..... a rectangular vernacular (Malayalam) postal franking marked in black, which was either posted unpaid or insufficiently prepaid.
Postage Due (Kuli.. കൂലി ) is charged for the message/writings found on the face of the card other than the address by the sender. Nothing shall be written on the face of the card, other than the destination address, as per the Travancore Manual of 1888.... also it is specifically mentioned on the face of the 8 cash post card.

The payment of 8 cash for the postcard, will be considered as null.. Hence the postage due (കൂലി) of 'Chuckram One' on the card, which is double the value of the post card.
