'Thi' frankings on 8 cash card,,,

Travancore...Numerical cancellation on card.

Very rarely, one can spot 'Thi' franking on printed postcard....probably done by mistake.

'Thi' markings are supposed to be done only on stamped covers & printed envelopes, not on Travancore printed postal cards.

POSTAGE DUE (KULI) MARKINGS

Travancore.....POSTAGE DUE or "KULI"..... a rectangular vernacular (Malayalam) postal franking marked in black, which was either posted unpaid or insufficiently prepaid.

Postage Due (Kuli.. കൂലി ) is charged for the message/writings found on the face of the card other than the address by the sender. Nothing shall be written on the face of the card, other than the destination address, as per the Travancore Manual of 1888.... also it is specifically mentioned on the face of the 8 cash post card.

The payment of 8 cash for the postcard, will be considered as null.. Hence the postage due (കൂലി) of 'Chuckram One' on the card, which is double the value of the post card.

'KULI'...3 Different measurements. Scarce to find on postcards.

1/ 4 CHUCKRAM COPPER COINS OF SREE MULAM RAMA VARMA

Travancore 1/4 Copper Chuckrams... Sree Mulam Thirunal Rama Varma (1885 - 1924).....

Quarter Chuckrams Copper coins...2.52gms & 2.54gms. 14mm.

Different Mints....Check the first Malayalam character.....and the space between the letters of the 2 coins.

VILLAGE POST OFFICE CANCELS ON STAMPS

Travancore Village post office cancellations on stamps...existed probably up to 1912?

17 types arbitrarily shown as unnumbered 'Vi' & numbered 'Vi' (V-1 to Vi-27 & Vi-102).
