Travancore 1899 'FIVE CASH' in violet ink...mint & used

Travancore 1899 'FIVE CASH' (handstamped in violet ink) overprinted on Eight Cash perforated postcard from Sucheendra to Trivandrum.

Travancore first issued postcards in 1888 with a postage charge of 8 cash till 1899, when it was reduced to 5 cash. The existing 8 cash cards were surcharged with 5 cash, to meet with the sudden change in the rate. Within a short span, in couple of months time, the new regular Five Cash cards were issued in 1899 itself.
