1819 entire headed " Quilon 21st November, 1819" and addressed by Colonel Molesworth (East India Company garrison) to Major De Havilland (MADRAS), with manuscript endorsement "Post Paid ans. 12", the major being apparently responsible for postal arrangements and this endorsement predating the earliest handstamp, and with "MADRAS/GPO/NO29/1819" in oval arrival datestamp.
Written and signed by Arthur Molesworth to Major Thomas Fiott de Havilland. Manuscript "Post Paid As 12". There was no official Quilon handstamp at this time so the Post Office applied the manuscript annotation "Quilon 21st November 1819" on reverse. Arrival postmark Giles MADRAS no.
