 ....from Kottayam Piravaka(16 KAR 91) to Alleppey (17 KAR 91) with red rectangular boxed V.P. cancellation (55×27mm). KOTTAYAM PIRAVAKA...Type XVIII..Page 128..Dr Mooss's book..

Shortened version of Kottayam Piravaka ('KOTTAYAM PER') ...not  mentioned in Dr Moos's book.

V.P. No: 1341. Wt: 8 tola.

Amount to be recovered- Rs 1.

Postage charge - 1/2 Chuckram

Unregistered VP charge - 1 Chuckram.

This special purpose handstamp cancel is found affixed only on V.P. articles, where they are accepted in  very few designated Anchal offices..A similar type, but larger (70×30mm) was used @ Monkombu & Trivandrum.

This V.P. system was introduced on January 16th, 1907(1/ Makaram/1082).... Earlier it was red boxed, followed by a black boxed handstamp.

Once these large red/black boxed cancel ceased to exist, were followed  by a double lined c.d.s. incorporating the letters 'V.P.' ...mostly seen used on postage stamps from Trivandrum Anchal office.

Scarce usage on wrapper/envelope. ..and very few exist.
